Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Dara decided to specialise in tax. She joined McAvoy and trained as a tax consultant. In her final Institute of Taxation exams Dara achieved overall first place as well as achieving first place in the Capital Acquisitions Tax exam. Following her training she remained with the firm, first becoming a tax director before taking charge of the firm’s tax practice.
Dara has contributed articles to Ireland’s leading professional journals on a range of taxation topics. She has spoken at a variety of taxation and seminars and for several years was a co-author of “Irish Income Tax”, the leading authority on Irish income tax.

- Minimising the tax liability on pension drawdowns in particular where the value of the pension exceeds the Standard Fund Threshold.
- VAT issues in relation to the acquisition and disposal of real property.
- The resolution of disputes with Revenue
