The Tax Partner Pathway Program

Our firm’s Tax Advisory practice works on all manner of tax matters across every area of tax. Our tax advisors and partners are encouraged to maintain expertise across the entire spectrum of Irish taxes. They work on diverse portfolios and can provide expert advice and solutions whatever their clients’ need. As well as being good for the firm’s clients, this approach brings huge variety to the work of the practice and keeps every day interesting and challenging.

The demand for tax services in Ireland is at an all-time high, providing an excellent and secure career path for those with an interest in taxation who receive the proper training and experience. If you decide to join us to become a tax specialist you will find that you can add real value to your clients and can thrive. Doing this requires diligence however and you need to be the type that likes a challenge, is a problem-solver and is curious when it comes to tax law.

The Tax Partner Pathway Program is a unique offering in the Irish market. Joining as a qualified Chartered Accountant (with or without the Chartered Tax Advisor qualification), the Partner Pathway will provide you with comprehensive training and experience in all areas of tax, client management and the commercial requirements to run a tax practice. The firm’s expectation is that over a 4-to-5-year period you will obtain the necessary skills and knowledge to become an equity Partner in the practice.

Examples of the type of work you can expect to do as a member of our Tax Partner Pathway Program

  •  Advising on a broad range of tax matters including:
    •  Business Tax: Advising on all aspects of business taxation, including structural reorganisations, the use of the Participation Exemption, business acquisitions and disposals.
      ○ Private Client Tax: Advising on the tax issues that are relevant when clients come to Ireland or leave Ireland. Advising on the use of trusts. Assisting with personal tax returns, repayment claims, and providing complex tax advice for individuals with diverse business interests.
      ○ Inheritance and Gift Tax: Providing specialist advice on estate planning; residence issues and the use of the reliefs and exemptions that allow for the minimisation of Inheritance and Gift Tax.
      ○ Capital Gains Tax (CGT): Advising on the actions necessary to avail of the various reliefs and exemptions critical to the minimisation of CGT costs.
      ○ Value Added Tax (VAT): Offering guidance on VAT processes and exposures.
      ○ Stamp Duty: Advising on stamp duty for various instruments, including property transfers, leases, and mortgages.
      ○ Revenue Audits and Investigations: Assisting clients in settling Revenue Audits in order to minimize tax consequences.
      ○ Tax Planning for Intellectual Property: Providing expertise on tax implications related to IP exploitation and R&D credits.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients, meeting deadlines and managing expectations
  • Participating in regular in-office training and development
  • Working towards agreed professional development milestones in line with the Pathways Program

Requirements that you should have

  • A Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification (a CTA qualification is beneficial, but is by no means essential)
  • 3 years plus experience in an Accounting or Tax role in a practicing office
  • Excellent academic background (2.1 or higher)
  • Curiosity, a positive attitude , a desire to solve problems for clients and the ability to enjoy your work
  • Feeling comfortable in an environment where client projects are often unique and there is a high level of non-routine work.
